Learning to Read English in India By Narda Pitkethly
Karen’s daughter, Lena, recently spent several months in India. She traveled to schools, sharing and teaching the Nardagani reading program. Students learned to read English in four lessons, using the Nardagani method. Once they felt confident reading and accurately pronouncing the language, they rapidly increased their vocabulary and began to converse in English.
During a previous trip, a little girl, Sering, and Lena developed a close bond. They have remained friends for two years. They were reunited when Lena returned to the school this past summer.
Here, Lena is teaching students to read in the Jamyang school in Leh, Ladakh, India, which was founded by the Dalai Lama.
