Meet Jean, A Nardagani Parent and Homeschool Mom
When Jean, a homeschool mom, was seeking a reading program to help improve her daughter Olivia (age 8) reading skills, she purchased the Nardagani Reading Program. Jean sat down with Nardagani and shared her experiences teaching the reading program to Olivia.
Nardagani: What was Olivia’s reading level when you began Nardagani?
Jean: “Olivia started Nardagani having some difficulty reading. She was reading at about the second grade level. By the time she was done with Nardagani, in about a month, she was reading at least in the mid-fourth grade level. I will definitely say that Nardagani will help any who who wants to improve their reading or learn how to read.”
Nardagani: What is your personal learning philosophy?
Jean: “I believe that learning should be easy. People will continue to learn when it is easy for them and Nardagani is easy. It’s easy to learn all that you need to know about reading within a month. That is what Nardagani promised that what they deliver. I would recommend it highly. I will continue to used the principals especially as we move forward, as Olivia learns more spelling words and as we get into harder materials.
Nardagani: What do you like most about Nardagani?
Jean: “I have used a lot of different programs over the years to teach my other kids how to read, but what attracted me most to Nardagani were the icons they use under the words. Little kids are able to use cell phones, iPads, and computers by looking at icons, and clicking on icons. They can take a picture by themselves and store it without you even realizing that they have your phone. They can see a McDonald’s sign and know they can stop there and get French fries.
Similarly, with the Nardagani system, anybody can learn how to read. Anybody can read after they memorize and learn the twelve different symbols, and they are super simple—they are super easy.
We are familiar with packages that have an up arrow. We know that you need to keep a package up right. It’s the same with Nardagani. They use the up arrow as the “u” symbol. So really, all these symbols are icons of sound.”
Nardagani: What were your goals when you started teaching Olivia, Nardagani?
Jean: “My daughter told me a few weeks ago that she really wished she could get to the point in her reading where she could just sit down and read a chapter book. So, that became my focus with Nardagani. And what Nardagani did was really increase her stamina to sit and read for a period of time. With Nardagani, she would read and read and read, because she wanted to keep decoding the symbols under the words. However, pretty soon it was like the training wheels came off and she just started reading words without using the extra helps at the bottom.”
