DENT Invites Narda Pitkethly to 2021 Santa Fe Conference

In October 2021, Nardagani’s Narda Pitkethly joined the DENT community at their conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Exploring the magic and science of visionary leadership and groundbreaking success, DENT aims to translate the success of great leaders in business, politics, or charity into a set of lessons for those who would "put a dent" in the future.

Nardagani talked to Narda about her experience at the latest DENT conference.

Nardagani: When did you first become involved with DENT?

Narda Pitkethly: I first heard about DENT through a story in the local newspaper. I was intrigued, and went to the website to see how I could become involved, https://dentthefuture.com/. One of the co-founders, Steve Broback, was so kind and invited me to a local event. During the first year of Covid, Steve invited me to join Zoom meetings weekly, where I was able to meet DENT community members. This year was my first opportunity to attend Dentthefuture in Santa Fe. I was thrilled to meet DENT community members in person.

Nardagani: Tell us about the last event?

Narda: The Santa Fe convention was over the top terrific! There were about 100 participants for the three and a half day conference. I love how the conference was set up with a block of rooms at La Fonda on the Plaza, so we could all be together. The event included breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, so there were lots of casual opportunities to connect with each other. One night DENT hosted a dine-around. I received a card inviting me to go to a local restaurant, where I dined with other “DENTERS.”

The speakers and workshops were wonderful. I learned about events going on in the world and technologies that were new to me. I was encouraged to think outside of the box professionally and personally. One speaker asked a profound question, “What makes a life worthy of humanity?” This was my favorite question of the conference. A microphone was passed around and I had the opportunity to stand and talk about my years of caregiving. People at the end of their life talk about regrets and accomplishments. The most peaceful people gave of themselves throughout their life.

The days were packed with speakers, workshops, and miscellaneous events, such as tours of Santa Fe. The nights were varied. One night I stayed up way too late in a deep conversation with a young man who was highly knowledgeable. We explored the meaning of life. Another night we were all invited to spend three hours at Meow Wolf, “A unique & immersive art installations with multimedia elements & a mysterious narrative throughout.” I’ve never experienced anything like Meow Wolf. I walked through a house type structure, with lights and wacky art all around. In the kitchen I opened the refrigerator, walked into it, and through a secret passage to another wild area of the house. In the laundry room, I opened the dryer, got in and whooshed down a slide into a cellar. It was delightfully interesting.

Nardagani: Big takeaways?

Narda: My big takeaway from this conference is a reminder of the quote by Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has." The DENT community is looking to make a DENT in the future, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this group.

Also, an easy way to get involved with the DENT community is to purchase a DENT Passport. The cost is $100 per month, or $1000 for the annual membership. Once you are a DENT Passport member, you are invited to weekly Zoom events, and in person events (mostly on the west coast) nearly every month. Passport members get special discounts on events, and even some private coaching from world class business and personal coaches. Click here to learn more, https://dentthefuture.com/
